Bilingual General Education

Another tool to address the multi-cultural classroom.

Our program is designed for qualified teachers interested in additional certification in Bilingual Education. We focus on increasing your understanding of and sensitivity to the specific needs and potential of non-native English speakers.

What You’ll Learn

Our five-course program includes significant field experience. Each course focuses on a particular aspect of bilingual education, from linguistic structure to effective strategies for teaching native language literacy. Throughout each course, we stress the importance of considering cultural factors alongside individual abilities in teaching bilingual students.

When you complete the 15-credit program, you’ll be eligible to apply through NYSED for your advanced certification, with Touro’s recommendation.

Admissions Requirements

In addition to general application requirements, applicants must be able to document proficiency in the target language of instruction (Click here to download the Target Language Proficiency Verification Form)
