Frances Hannan, Ph.D.
Chair, Biology Education
Dr. Frances Hannan was born and educated in Australia. Her degrees include a B.Sc. (Ed.), B.Sc. (Hons), and a Ph.D. (Genetics), all awarded by the University of Melbourne. She pursued postdoctoral studies at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Cambridge University (UK), and SUNY Buffalo. Her research laboratory, in the Cell Biology department at New York Medical College, studies learning and memory, and auditory function, in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. As Chair of the Biology Education program at Touro, she strives to merge the worlds of research and education, in order to enhance the skills of the next generation of Biology teachers.
