Equity Assistance Center
All students deserve a high quality education.
The Equity Assistance Center (EAC), housed the Lander Center for Educational Research helps ensure that students of every background and circumstance have access to the same educational opportunities as their peers.
What We Do
Upon request, the EAC provides free technical assistance to state departments of education, school districts, and school that want to improve academic achievement and access for students impacted by issues relating to race, sex, or nationality.
Our services help districts and states build their capacity to provide quality teaching and learning for all students; reduce or prevent disproportionality; engage English Language Learners and special education students; adopt effective approaches to dropout prevention; reduce the incidences of bullying and harassment, and foster an educational environment that supports high quality education.
We believe that quality teachers, STEM and English Language Learning programs, and a healthy school climate and culture are key to student success in high-poverty, low-performing schools.
Funded by the U.S Department of Education, the EAC works with districts in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Through our services, we improve the quality of education and life for thousands of students, while helping schools meet the equity requirements of NCLB and IDEA.
