Online and Blended Learning Consultant

The primary responsibility of the Online and Blended Learning Consultant support the design and implementation of blended learning professional learning experiences with partner teams.  The Online and Blended Learning consultant will develop a partner facing toolkit to share best practices in online learning and facilitation as well as provide ongoing implementation and technical support to partner teams using WeTeachNYC Communities, a district-wide online resources library and professional learning portal developed by the NYC Department of Education, currently supporting over 3,500 NYC teachers and school leaders.  The Online and Blended Learning Consultant will work closely with the Director of Digital Content and Instruction to support the ongoing research and user feedback on the use and impact of digital learning experiences.

The Online and Blended Learning Consultant should have knowledge in online and blended instructional design and adult learning. He/she should have project management skills to coordinate cross-divisional projects, as well as be able to foster and build relationships with partner program teams. Additionally, he/she will be expected to support educators in their use of WeTeachNYC and analyze usage data to support increased participant engagement.   • Strong instructional knowledge
  • Experience facilitating adult learning
  • Demonstrated project management and customer service skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in conducting research and analyzing data to identify trends
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Apps, and Access)
  • Previous experience working in/with the NYC Department of Education preferred


  • Supports 7 to 10 program teams in the Division of Teaching and Learning to design and develop powerful online and blended professional learning experiences
  • Supports program teams by building capacity on implementing and improving digital instructional design
  • Oversees the development of a program team facing toolkit by consolidating and revising existing products into refined products 
  • Develops and implements technical training for program teams
  • Develops and implements trainings on best practices in online facilitation
  • Delivers reports to program teams on digital roll out
  • Supports program teams in recommending/developing next steps based on report data
