Special Needs Coordinator

Our Special Needs Coordinator will oversee programming for children, teens and adults with special needs. The Special Needs Coordinator is responsible for the vision and leadership of the special needs department which includes maintaining current programming and expanding the offerings to meet the needs of the community. This is a full-time position. 

Primary responsibilities of the position are: 

  • Develop and implement all programming which includes children, teens and adults 
  • Identify and create new exciting programs to meet the needs of clients and potential clients 
  • Supervise program staff 
  • Oversee OPWDD grant reimbursement program 
  • Cultivate relationships with all program participants and their families or caregivers 
  • Develop and monitor program budget to ensure goals are being met 
  • Track and maintain program usage data 
  • Prepare grant reports 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • 3 years' experience working with special needs population 
  • Extensive experience in program development for individuals with special needs 
  • Experience in employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented 
  • Experience working with diverse Jewish populations 
  • Grant writing experience a plus 
  • Bachelor's Degree. Masters Preferred. 

This is a full-time position with some evening work.

Youth and Family Program Coordinator

Our Youth and Family Program Coordinator will develop and implement an afterschool program which includes classes and activities for children in grades K-6. The Youth and Family Program Coordinator will also plan activities and programs for families. This is a part-time position (25 hours per week) with potential to expand to full-time. 

Primary responsibilities are: 

  • Development of new afterschool program for children in grades K-6 
  • Liaison with local Yeshivot for our "Finally Friday" afterschool program 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with local businesses geared towards children's activities 
  • Assist with day camp recruitment 
  • Hire and train staff 
  • Evaluate programs to ensure they are meeting the needs of the community 
  • Prepare and monitor program budget 

Knowledge and Skills 

  • 2-3 years experience working with children in a school, camp or synagogue youth group environment 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Proficient in NYS OCFS licensing regulations 
  • Highly organized and detail oriented 
  • A passion for working with children and families 
  • Enthusiastic, high energy and self-motivated 
  • Experience working with diverse Jewish populations 
  • Bachelors Degree, Masters Preferred 

Approximate hours of the position when the program is in session: Mon-Thurs 1-6, Friday 11-3. Some Sundays in lieu of Fridays
