Join us for the Fall 2026 GSE Faculty Exchange Program! From Assignment to Conference Presentation: Mentoring Graduate Candidates as Scholarly Co-Authors with Dr. Jennifer Economos, Assistant Professor, Teaching Literacy
Many graduate candidates’ complete assignments that could become conference presentations or other scholarly work with the right guidance. This Faculty Exchange will share a practical approach for helping students move beyond the classroom by identifying strong projects, mentoring them through the revision process, establishing clear expectations for collaboration, and preparing them to present at the Graduate School of Education (GSE) Shines Conference.
Participants will leave with a simple framework and ready-to-use strategies for supporting student scholarship while helping candidates grow as confident professionals and future contributors to the field.
About the presenter
Dr. Jennifer Economos is an Assistant Professor of Literacy and Special Education in the Graduate School of Education at Touro University. She brings more than a decade of experience across higher education, clinical supervision, and K–12 settings, having served as a secondary English and special education teacher, instructional designer, doctoral mentor, and educational consultant. Her professional expertise centers on literacy intervention, instruction for students with disabilities, inclusive and responsive curriculum design, and the integration of educational technology and artificial intelligence in teacher preparation. Dr. Economos earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Administration and a Master of Science in Adolescence Education, with additional coursework in Special Education, from Dowling College.
