“Be Kind, Be Encouraging and Never Give Up on a Child”

GSE faculty offer advice to the new teachers of the class of 2017

As the 2017 graduates of Touro College Graduate School of Education make their way to their classrooms, faculty and staff members at Touro wished them congratulations and passed on some final pieces of advice.

“Always remember that you can change the lives of your students,” said Dr. Seong-Shin Kim, Chair of the TESOL/Bilingual Advanced Certification Programs. Touro Graduate School of Education Interim Dean Arnold Spinner said that teachers should consider their long-term influence on students: “The rewards of teaching are amazing when you see what your students eventually do.” Dr. Susan Corey, Chair of Early Childhood Education and Special Education, offered three pieces of advice “Be kind, be encouraging and never give up on a child.”
