Eloise Marks Stewart, Ed.D., a Kappa Delta Pi Teacher of Honor, is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Touro University New York. Her primary assignment is within Alternative Programs and University Partnerships. Prior to entering higher education, Dr. Stewart worked as a K-12 educator, department leader, and district supervisor of special services. She earned her doctorate degree in Teacher Leadership with a focus on curriculum development and literacy from Walden University. Dr. Stewart has presented at conferences on assessment and “best practices” for teaching unique learners. She has published articles in teacher preparation textbooks and leadership journals. As a professor, Dr. Stewart has taught graduate courses in History and Philosophy of Education, Curriculum Development and Classroom Management for Students with Disabilities, and Teaching Students with Disabilities. She continues to mentor doctoral candidates seeking degrees in educational leadership by serving as their committee chair and providing guidance in developing their dissertation. Dr. Stewart enjoys hiking, traveling, and gardening. She works closely with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., on various community service projects and holds leadership positions within the organization. Dr. Stewart believes teaching at an institution of higher learning comes with an extraordinary benefit because we have a chance to change people’s lives and that is a tremendous privilege.
