The practicum offers students an excellent opportunity for field based experience under the guidance of advisors who are experts in the field.

EDSN 695 | Clinical Practicum and Capstone – Diagnosing and Treating Reading Disabilities, Grades PreK–12

Students complete a total of 50 clock hours of a college-supervised practicum, combining experience in Grades PreK–6 and 7–12. The course includes mandatory attendance at three seminars, the compilation of an ePortfolio, and the submission of a case study integrating relevant research. During the practicum, students, under the supervision of certified cooperating teachers, gain proficiency in using various test materials for diagnosing reading and writing difficulties. Evaluations from cooperating teachers and analysis of the practicum experience contribute to students' understanding and ability to address literacy challenges.

In order to register for the practicum, students must complete 15 credits in the Teaching Literacy Program, exclusive of EDPN 620 and EDSN 650. The 15 credits must include SpED 667; Diagnosis & Remediation of Reading Disabilities.
